Autism Spectrum Disorder Evaluations:

The first step in addressing neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism is to seek out a thorough assessment for your child. Georgia Neurobehavioral Associates are able to perform diagnostic assessments, medication evaluations, and behavioral evaluations to guide treatment planning to make certain your child has the best opportunity to grow and succeed. Georgia Neurobehavioral Associates provides comprehensive Autism evaluations for children and adolescents. The comprehensive evaluation will involve standardized psychological tests (i.e. cognitive, achievement, executive functioning etc.) and clinical interviews (e.g.-ADI-R-the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised), Autism rating scales, play and social interaction observations (e.g.-ADOS2-Autism Diagnostic Observation System-2) as well as social/emotional/behavioral and adaptive areas of functioning that impact performance in school, relationships with family and friends, and behaviors in the home and community. After the evaluation, you will receive a report outlining the results of the evaluation and specific recommendations.

Autism Evaluation Procedures: The Autism evaluation will take several hours. The clinician will spend time with the parent’s/guardians and child. The child's parent/guardian(s) will spend time with the clinician completing a thorough diagnostic interview (e.g. ADI-R) and developmental history as well as filling out forms including, questionnaires, and rating scales. Additionally, the parent/guardian will be interviewed regarding present concerns, expectations, and their child’s strengths. During the appointment the child will be completing psychological tests and structured observations. Following the initial evaluation, a feedback session will be scheduled. During the feedback session the clinician will review the results of the assessment as well as make recommendations about how to proceed. Additionally a written report will be generated and copies will be given to the patient's guardians. The report will include a summary of the evaluation and specific recommendations for the child.
